Short Films represent a unique and demanding format that requires precise storytelling, disciplined execution, and emotional impact within a compact runtime. Sunlight Productions Holdings LLC develops and produces short-form narrative work that stands as complete cinematic experiences.

This collection of Short Films includes award-winning festival work, proof-of-concept pilots for feature development, and standalone narrative pieces. Each project demonstrates our commitment to controlled production, performance-driven direction, and visual storytelling that respects the intelligence of the audience.

The Short Films format demands efficiency without sacrificing depth. Dramatic interior scene from Annivalentines Day short film.

Annivalentine’s Day

Among the most recognized Short Films in our portfolio, Annivalentine’s Day was created for the prestigious 10-10-10 Challenge at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF)—a production format requiring filmmakers to deliver a complete short under strict constraints: 10 days, 10 people, 10 minutes.

Directed by Aleksandar Adzic and written by Joe Arciniega, this Short Films entry combines drama and dark comedy to explore what happens when a long-term relationship reaches a breaking point. The story builds around emotional tension, uncomfortable honesty, and the strange moments that surface when two people stop pretending.

The project premiered at SBIFF and received the Best Screenplay Award, validating the strength of the script and the effectiveness of the story structure within a short runtime.

Fool For Christ - “Punch In”

Fool For Christ – “Punch In”

Shot on location in Santa Barbara, this entry in our Short Films collection serves as a proof-of-concept pilot for a developing television series. Produced by Kellen Dmitri and directed by Aleksandar Adzic, the pilot was captured in an efficient production schedule spanning just a few days.

The narrative follows a lead character undergoing a profound shift during a season of division. After a literal fall and brief unconsciousness, his perception fractures—he sees reality in new ways and gains mysterious abilities. Straddling two worlds, he becomes a man no longer fully at home in either.

Cinematography by Nick Laurant captures the coastal California environment as both serene backdrop and isolating landscape that mirrors the protagonist’s internal disorientation.

A couple running hand in hand while being pursued, a dramatic scene from the romantic drama film Inside the Grace.

Inside the Grace

Inside the Grace serves both as a standalone entry in our Short Films collection and as a preview of a larger narrative currently in feature development. The short establishes the emotional and thematic foundation for an expanded cinematic story.

This Short Films piece is a romantic spiritual drama that blends magical realism with quiet human intimacy. When a disabled man from the present day is mysteriously transported to 1950s Mississippi through a sacred relic, he finds himself physically healed and emotionally awakened in a world defined by faith, music, and genuine connection.

Told with restraint and sincerity, this short explores whether miracles are gifts or responsibilities, and whether grace is something we receive or something we choose.

Dasher

Dasher

Dasher serves both as a standalone Short Films piece and as a preview of a larger narrative currently in feature development. The short establishes the thematic and emotional foundation for an expanded feature-length story.

This entry in our Short Films collection is a quiet, immersive social drama set on the streets of Los Angeles, following Henry, a food delivery driver whose body and spirit slowly collapse under the endless repetition of gig-economy labor. Moving between car interiors, restaurants, and marginal living spaces, Henry clings to art, music, and private faith as acts of resistance.

As pain intensifies and institutions fail him, survival itself becomes the film’s central question—offering an intimate, unsentimental portrait of modern precarity.

The Short Films Format

Short Films require a unique production discipline that balances creative ambition with practical constraints. Unlike feature-length work, short-form narratives must establish character, conflict, and resolution within a compressed timeframe—typically under 30 minutes and often under 15.

Sunlight Productions approaches Short Films with the same rigorous preparation applied to feature work. Pre-production planning, controlled on-set execution, and precise post-production ensure that every frame serves the story. This discipline has resulted in festival recognition and provided a foundation for feature development.

Many of our Short Films function as proof-of-concept work for larger narratives, allowing us to test creative approaches, establish visual language, and build momentum for feature-length development.

Short Films serve as essential calling cards for independent production companies and emerging filmmakers. Festival selections and awards validate creative choices, demonstrate production capability, and open doors to industry relationships. Annivalentine’s Day received the Best Screenplay Award at SBIFF, confirming the strength of our story development process.

The Short Films in our portfolio have screened at respected festivals and continue to represent Sunlight Productions’ commitment to narrative clarity, performance-driven direction, and technical excellence—qualities that translate directly to feature filmmaking and commercial production.

Industry standards for creating compelling short films emphasize strong concept development and controlled execution—core values that guide every Short Films project at Sunlight Productions.
