Fool for Christ is a short film pilot shot on location in Santa Barbara, California. The project serves as the proof-of-concept episode for a developing television series. Produced by Kellen Dmitri and directed by Aleksandar Adzic, the pilot was captured in an efficient production schedule spanning just a few days to establish the story’s world and introduce its central characters.
The narrative follows a lead character undergoing a profound psychological and spiritual shift during a season of intense societal division. In the midst of this upheaval, a literal fall onto a rock triggers a brief state of unconsciousness. Upon awakening, his perception of reality fractures. He begins to see the world in new, unsettling ways and manifests mysterious abilities that defy rational explanation. Straddling two planes of existence, he becomes a man no longer fully at home in either. The pilot episode establishes this transformation and sets the stage for the character’s journey navigating the tension between ordinary life and extraordinary perception.
The pilot episode of Fool for Christ was produced with a lean, focused crew to maximize location efficiency in Santa Barbara. Cinematography by Nick Laurant captures the coastal California environment as both a serene backdrop and an isolating landscape that mirrors the protagonist’s internal disorientation.
